Ok, I still love Rockabilly music and
looking back on the scene in Southern California in the early eighties
it was one of the best times in my life. So, here I am in early 1983
(I was 16 at the time) sitting on a car outside my home at the time in
San Marcos, CA.
I had just got my pomp done and it was just
starting to grow. (I know it's tough to see.) Within a few months
it was down to my nose. I know it looks pretty tame now -- but back
then, even in California, I got some looks and stares. People just
weren't as accepting about different hair styles as they are today.
Lots of good times though. Original rockers, by now in their forties,
were always telling me stories about life in the fifties.
There was lots of great new music, the
Stray Cats, the PoleCats, the Rockats -- well, you get the picture.
My friends and I would end up at the Pier in Oceanside for dances, or down
clubbin' in San Diego.
